      Location near the Redwoods.

Old, outdated decor and musty smell. The bed was hard.

Very dirty! Mold on shower curtains, windows were very dirty, The chairs in the room were so dirty we wouldn't sit on them.

Had free internet access. Good value for the price.

TV was from the 1980s (or maybe even the 1970s). Towels were clean, but they had permanent spots on them.

It was what you'd expect being a Motel. There was mold in the shower, an old tube tv, but it had cable. There weren't rodents or bugs. The bed wasn't horrible and the room was big. The town was dodgy with lots of hitch-hikers. Great location for Avenue of the Giants. Probably wouldn't stay here again (was short on cash), but it wasn't horrible.

      The price

It was dirty. Bathroom was not clean. Black mold on window sills. Pillow covers did not match the pillows. Coffee tray was dirty. It was overall dirty

The Motel is in a nice location. You can enjoy the sunrise on the patio in front of your room.

The bathrooms are a little bit shabby.

      easy to find

lack of continental breakfast, or at least some fruit and juice.

The price was right. No road noise and within walking distance of the other businesses in the town.

The rooms, especially the shower and bathroom walls, were very dirty. The towels needed to be replaced - they had been used and not replaced.

They had the best air conditioning of all the hotels I have ever stayed. The temp got down to 50 & fast, which was great after working in the heat all day. They also had the best water pressure (just push the lever up all the way)--it was great! Our room had brand new microwave & fridge which we utilized. Close to grocery store if you forgot anything. I was nervous about staying here after reading other reviews, but our stay was great!

Don't stay here! This Motel is the worst I've stayed at. It was downright disgusting. The rooms had beds, chairs, and a working tv, microwave, and fridge. Those are the positives. The negatives are everything else. The decor was old and dreary. The whole place was dirty and made us feel like we needed to constantly lather up in purell. The bathroom light fixture had no cover, the fan barely worked, the shower was dirty and the shower curtain smelled heavily of cigarettes. Clearly it never gets washed. The paint job on the bathroom ceiling was probably done by a 5 year old. The coffee maker was so rickety it wasn't worth the effort to make the provided coffee, and I tried for a good couple of minutes to make it happen. There were old cushioned chairs and tables that had been retired and placed outside the rooms as though they were patio furniture. There was a tv and trash graveyard in the pet area. The woman at the front desk didn't speak english well enough to have a conversation. Overall, completely uncomfortable accomodations. Don't stay here!

      Cheap Rate, Clean Room

Aside from the location, I have nothing positive to say about Motel Garberville.

We were supposed to have a non-smoking room, and the sign out in front of the door said it was non-smoking, but the room stunk heavily of cigarrette smoke. We tried to air out the room, but the windows wouldn't open enough to make much of a difference. The lock on the door was very flimsy--and it signaled clearly whether you were in your room or not with an "occupied" or "vacant" switch that you could only turn from inside the room. That made it scary to leave our belongings in the room when we left, because there was no way to keep the door from saying "vacant" when exiting the room. We were left about 1/8 of a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, with no other rolls in the room. I needed to ask at the front desk for a new roll, and the girl had to hunt for one. I asked if they had another non-smoking room that we could switch to, and she said that there were only two other rooms, but "you won't want them." I assumed that meant that they were worse than the room we were given. When we went to go to be, I turned down the blankets and found the sheets were stained and the bed was barely made. The sheets smelled clean, but it was still disconcerting to sleep on sheets with such obvious stains in them. The whole establishment gave off a creepy vibe, which was too bad, because it was conveniently located right off the highway.

Pet friendly motel. Quite, clean and easy access.

The room smelled stale when we first entered it. Old motel smell went away after we had the door open for a few minutes.
